On Thursday, December 7, 2017, George C. Pielenz Jr., left his earthly house to enter the eternal Heavenly home that his Lord had prepared for him.
George was born in Nevada City, California and as a young child, moved to the Sacramento Valley with his family. He was drafted into the armed services just before high school graduation, serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return to civilian life, he enrolled in Sacramento State College, where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration. In later years, George was ordained a Missionary Pastor by Golden State School of Theology. His area of service was Gospel Rescue Missions, the first being at the Sacramento Union Gospel Mission, followed by the Fresno Rescue Mission, the Christian Hope Center in San Luis Obispo, and the Richmond Rescue Mission.
In 1985, George became the director of the Pajaro Rescue Mission in Watsonville, California. He served at Pajaro as director for 26 years from 1985 to 2011. He watched the mission grow from a one-story building serving homeless men with meals, shelter and evening Gospel messages, into a two-story residential facility for a Christian discipleship ministry to men with life-controlling issues, after partnering with Teen Challenge Monterey Bay.
The great passion of his life for the past couple of years was to write a book called, "Blessings of Being a Christian". Despite extremely limited eyesight, he worked on his manuscript nearly every day. The book remains unfinished, but George made plans for its completion in the event he would not live to fully write it himself.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lynn, son Greg Pielenz (Trish) and daughters Yvonne Pielenz (Aaron), Mary Hampton (Dean) and Ruth Danielson. He is also survived by one granddaughter and six grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father George Sr., mother LaVerne, brother Al
Pielenz and sister Marge Schlesinger.
Graveside services will be held December 27 at 2:00 PM at the Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, CA. Memorial services are scheduled for Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Dr. Aptos at 11:00 AM on January 13, 2018.
