Helen Ann King passed away Sunday January 18, 2008. She was 87. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Felker of Alameda, CA and Barbara Guadamuz of Scotts valley, Ca., a sister Barbara D. Sager and a nephew Stacey A. Sager both of Woodstock, Va., sister in-law Carol "King" Youngmark, niece Helen "King" Dowling, seven grandchildren Jessica, Cheyne and Kyle King; Courtney Guadamuz of Santa Cruz Ca., Nicolette, Marlena and Richard Von Felker of Alameda, Ca.
She was preceded in death by her dear loving husband Charles "Ernie" King, her brother Stanley "Jack" Sager, son Cyrus Edward King and brother in-law Richard Albert King.
She was born to Stanley Joseph Sager and Irene Vernon Sager in Baltimore, Md. in 1920. She grew up on a cattle and crop farm which has been owned and operated continuously by the family in the Shenendoah Valley to the present. After graduating high school in Woodstock, Va. where she played clarinet an was active in basketball and theater, she earned her degree in nursing at the Winchester Hospital School of Nursing and went on to work for the Martinsberg Veterans Hospital. She joined the US Navy in 1942 where she met her future husband "Ernie" King a US Navy Pilot. She was a Navy nurse for 6 years. After leaving the service she worked as the Head Nurse in Emergency for Dominican Hospital and the established the Nurse Aide program at the Santa Cruz Adult School where she taught for over 20 years.
Helen and Ernie raised three children and spent most of their lives in Soquel, Ca. She will remembered for her humor, strength and her dedication to her husband and family.
