Herbert Lundin Obituary

Herbert R. Lundin
Nov. 23, 1940 - Aug. 27, 2016
Santa Cruz
Herb Lundin passed away peacefully at home after a long illness.
Herb is survived by his son, Mickey Lundin of Anchorage, AK, his daughter, Cindy Lundin Mesaros of Lafayette, CA, and his sister Diane Markstein of Rhode Island, as well as grandchildren Corey Branson, Ronnie Mesaros and Julia Mesaros, and three great grandchildren in Arizona. He is also survived by his former spouse Marlene Lundin of Scotts Valley.
Herb was a tool and die maker and mechanical engineer for many companies in both Connecticut, where he was born, and the Bay Area, where he moved his family in the mid 70s. He settled happily near the Santa Cruz Harbor, and was an avid sailor, sailing his 30 foot Catalina to Hawaii and Mexico. He loved playing the accordion, especially at the Sveadal music festival, and he was very proud of his Swedish roots. A ham radio enthusiast, Herb lived life his own way, and his sense of humor and joy in life will be very much missed by his family and friends in the harbor and music communities in Santa Cruz and beyond.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Herb by raising a toast of your favorite beverage in his memory, or making a donation to the Hospice of Santa Cruz County.

Herbert was such a kind and wonderful man. I had the pleasure of knowing him for the last few years of his life and I enjoyed our talks about Sveadel and his sense of humor. He is greatly missed.
