James Hillgren Obituary

James Stuart Hillgren
Sept. 14, 1945-Oct. 30, 2011
Resident of La Selva Beach
James was born on September 14, 1945, in Minneapolis and died from pancreatic cancer on October 30, 2011. He attended the University of Minnesota as an undergraduate and earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy Jackson, his daughter, Kristen Hillgren, his sister, Virginia Taylor and his nephews, Glenn and Kevin Taylor.
Jim was affectionately known as "my sweet Jim", "the daddy I was so proud to have", and "my little brother".
His professional life allowed him to share his many talents with a wide variety of clients and colleagues and his working persona incorporated the generous, hospitable side that friends knew so well. Among those who had the opportunity to work with Jim were the Dallas Police Department, Chevron, Aetna, Enterprise Ireland and CLG. All those he left behind, those mentioned above, and a host of others, will remember a man of impeccable integrity who enjoyed good food, good wine, good football and who loved his family wholeheartedly.
In lieu of flowers, donations to charities would be welcomed. Options include:
Second Harvest of Santa Cruz (because Jim loved to feed people),
The University of Texas at Austin (because Jim loved the Longhorns), and
German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California (because Jim loved German Shepherds).
