John's reputation preceded him. You knew him before you met him personally. He made every other Rotarian proud to be part of the same organization with him. I can't think of many other people who gave so generously of their time and resources to make other people more comfortable and happy. Now he belongs to the universe, flying free among the stars.

John was the consummate volunteer. I had the privilege to work with him while serving as the Executive Director of RotaCare, and later on the Board of RotaCare.
So sorry to hear of his passing, and my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

I will forever miss John at RotaCare events. He came to ALL of them. It was my pleasure to serve on the Board of Directors of RotaCare Bay Area with John for 8 years. His wisdom and support will be missed by many.

I delivered John's mail for quite some time. I always enjoyed his wit and friendliness. John always had time for a quick joke or chat. A wonderful person. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

John was a gentleman and a friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and once told me that "the SeaBees cleared the beaches in order for the Marines to go ashore". Seriously, he had a ton of respect for all of the military branches. He will be sorely missed. It could be said that he was "Mr. Aptos".
