Joseph Paul Ramirez, Jr. passed away tragically in a scuba diving accident in Fort Bragg, Tuesday, August 10, 2010. He was 31.
A native of Watsonville, Mr. Ramirez moved to Reno 9 years ago. He attended local schools in Watsonville and graduated from Aptos High School. He worked for TSA as a security officer at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport for the past 5 years. Mr. Ramirez was every definition of an outdoors man as he loved camping, fishing, rock climbing, scuba diving, playing softball and many other activates. He was looking forward to a bear hunting trip he was taking for his birthday in October.
Mr. Ramirez is survived by his parents, Joseph and Patricia Ramirez of Watsonville; fiancée, Manjaneeta Dawson of Sacramento; siblings, Mario Ramirez of Watsonville and AnyaLisa Ramirez of Salinas; grandmother, Aurelia Ramirez of Watsonville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Visitation will be held at The Church of the Nazarene 710 Green Valley Rd. Watsonville on Friday 1-6 p.m. with a funeral service at 3 p.m. Private interment arrangements will be held at a later date. Mehl's Colonial Chapel has been trusted with funeral arrangements.

My sympathy goes to all family and friends of Joseph. I was the first fire rescue personnel to find Joseph. He was not conscious and I immediately began chest compressions until another rescue crew took over and continued efforts to revive him. I was very, very saddened to learn later that day that he passed away.
