Kevin Eldred Obituary

Kevin Newton Eldred

1958 - 2012

Kevin Newton Eldred, 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.

Kevin was born on May 29, 1958, in Kenosha, Wis., to the late Newton and Mary (Read) Eldred. Kevin graduated from Bradford High School, and spent most of his life in Kenosha enjoying time spent laughing and joking with his family and friends, cheering on the Cubs and Packers, and riding around on his Harley. Kevin was well known for his quick wit, kind heart, and laid back demeanor.

On July 24, 1982, he married Lorna Lombardi at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Kevin worked for over 30 years as a machinist at Alfa Laval, and he enjoyed officiating basketball and softball games. The Eldred family moved to Richmond, Va., in 2002. Whenever he came back to visit, he was sure to connect with all his good friends and hit all his favorite restaurants.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lorna of 30 years; two daughters, Melanie and Julia; siblings, Joan (Stephen) Elger, Barbara (Robert) Gray, and Larry (Rachel) Eldred; and his many loving relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kevin will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary (2224 45th Street) with service at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a family memorial designated for his beloved daughters education.

Kev, we've done so much together, but yet, still not enough. The bike trips, the "shopping" trips, the concerts, and the rest. I will miss the restaraunt and bar tours we take. Your infectious smile, kwik wit, and sense of humor are missed by all. To Lorna, Melanie, and Julia I'll do what I can for you. With all my love,

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family at this most difficult time. I worked with Kevin for many years at Tri-Clover and I was saddened to hear of his passing. Too young to be taken from us too soon. Rest in peace dear friend. Jeff Trick

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Kevin briefly by being friends with his sister Barb. He seemed allways to have a smile on his face and chuckling about something. I will be praying for his whole family. I could tell Kevin touched a lot of lives, and I know how close all of you are.

To have known Kevin is a blessing received. A man of passion and commitment. Passion for foods, riding his bike, playing and teaching sport, music and ..the Packers. Kevin was committed to not just to his passions, but foremost to his deep love for his wife Lorna and his two girls, Melanie and Julia. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the entire Eldred Family, as well as Kevin's close friends. Kevin is at peace and his blessing will be with us all our lives.

I'm sorry for your loss. Kevin and I were close friends throughout our school years. We lived 1 block apart and spent a lot of time playing baseball (often 1 on 1), football, basketball, and street hockey. We lost touch after high school but would occasionally see each other and laugh about our days growing up.
