Lena Gotti was born May 1st, 1925 in Pacific Grove, CA. Her parents emigrated from Northern Italy to California in the early 1920's. Lena was raised in Capitola, where she met her loving husband Ernie Gotti. They were married for seventy years until her passing. Together, Ernie and Lena maintained a produce market on Bay avenue and went on to build and manage several properties in Capitola. Lena and Ernie raised two children, Kevin and Tammy. In their free time Lena and her family traveled across the country and eventually made it back to her parent's home village in Italy. Lena worked hard throughout her life. She was a devoted wife and a loving grandmother to her grandson Anthony. Lena also was in business with her daughter-in- law Anna Marie. Anna, in her spare time, worked hard to take care of Lena and Ernie in their old age, following the caring and compassionate example that Lena set for the family. Everyone who met Lena will remember her as a loyal friend. Lena was always ready to drop what she was doing whenever a friend was in need. She was independent and dependable, warm and caring. She will be missed by many throughout the Santa Cruz community. Her independence and sense of charity set her apart as a role model to all who were lucky to know her. Lena Gotti passed away on Thursday the fourth of January 2018, she was ninety-two years old. She was surrounded by friends and family at her home in Capitola, CA.
A rosary was held for Lena at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz on Tuesday evening. The Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Joseph's Church, 435 Monterey Ave. in Capitola beginning at 11 am.
