Mary Elizabeth Buffon, born in Watsonville on June 9, 1950 to Tom and Gladys Jamieson, passed quietly at home on July 17, 2014. She is survived immediately by her husband, Stephen Buffon, and three sons, Scot Stevenson, Jeff Stevenson, and Peter Buffon.
After graduating from Watsonville High School, Mary attended Cabrillo College and earned a degree in Home Economics. She also attended Cabrillo College more recently and took classes in the Medical Assistant's program. Her last employment was as a caregiver for LifeSpan. Mary's loving and caring spirit are exemplified by her participating in the Dress A Girl program at Twin Lakes Church, a program dedicated to the idea that every young girl in this world should have at least one beautiful dress. She belonged to a quilting group, Sweet Peas, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Santa Cruz, that makes quilts for the homeless mother's shelter. Mary also worked as a volunteer at Happy Valley School for many years. Mary will be sorely missed by all those who had the opportunity to know her and share a part of their life with her. Donations for research for pancreatic cancer in care of Dr. George Fisher, Stanford Cancer Center, 875 Blake Wilbur Drive, Stanford, CA 94305 are preferred.

I too will miss her gentle and caring spirit. I always think of her as the kindest person that I've ever met. I feel lucky to have met her so many years ago, when we were young and mothers for the first time. We shared a love of children, sewing and crafts. You will always be in my heart Mary.
