MATTHEW PRENTICE Obituary

On December 10th, 2022, our world was forever changed when our beloved son and loyal friend Matt passed away unexpectedly. Matt was born and grew up in Santa Cruz County, attending Soquel High School and then went on to Chico State University where he obtained a BA in Criminal Justice. From a young age, with his adventurous spirit, he was a lover of anything outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, hunting with the Duck Club and exploring new places so it was not surprising when he went to work for the Ca Dept of Park and Rec. He had many family members and friends who loved to just be in his presence to hear his contagious laughter and see the twinkle in his sparkling blue eyes. He will forever be missed by his father and stepmother John and Darlene Prentice; mother and stepfather Heidy Burton and Brett Freiberg; and siblings Nick, Chris, Mikayla, James, Kayla, Tommy and Emilie. We know that despite his short time here with us, he made a giant impact on those he encountered. We grieve his loss but rest in the knowledge that we will be together again one day. In the meanwhile, we will cherish his memory as he lives forever in our hearts.
