The family of Michael S. Bailey, Sr. is sad to report that he passed from this earth Saturday evening, January 22, 2011. Mike died of natural causes at his parents' home in Watsonville, CA.
Mike was born April 26, 1954 in Watsonville. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1972 and Santa Clara University, 1976, with a BS in Chemistry. He later earned an MBA from the University of San Diego. He was commissioned in the US Navy, serving in the submarine force on active duty for 12 years, and as an active reservist for 9 years. He rose to the rank of Commander before leaving the active reserve. Later, he entered the software business and became a certified business process engineer.
Mike was a man of many talents. He earned the highest award in 4H, All Star. He was an excellent skier, serving in the national ski patrol at Squaw Valley, as well as being a pilot, sailor, and scuba diver. He loved gardening and was constantly fighting against gopher invasions.
Mike served his community through the Scouting program, as a Unit Commissioner and Eagle Advisor. Many young men have given him credit for helping them attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He was generous with his time to help his neighbors. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Fallbrook, CA.
A memorial service and Mass, followed by a reception, will be offered at Holy Eucharist Catholic Church, Corralitos, CA, on Tuesday, February 1, at 11 am. All who knew him or his family are invited to attend.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ellen Bailey of Fallbrook, CA, his 2 sons: Michael S. Bailey, Jr., 27, attending the University of West Virginia in Morgantown, WV; and Patrick A. Bailey, 19, attending Mira Costa College, both of Fallbrook, CA; his mother & father: George & Joann Bailey; and his sister, Joan Bailey of Watsonville, CA. He will be sorely missed by family and friends, who commend his spirit to our loving Lord, who has promised to make all things new. We trust in this promise and find comfort there, despite our sorrow at his passing from our lives.

Although it saddens us to lose another family member from our earthly circle, we know the family circle above is grander. May your family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of sorrow. Though Mike will be missed, he will remain forever in our hearts.. your cousin,
