Nona Tindall Obituary

Nona Tindall (Maddock)
Santa Cruz County
Nona Tindall (Maddock) beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, and friend passed away in her home last week at the age of 77. She is survived by her son Rick Smiley and 5 grandchildren. Born in Santa Cruz, the only child of Ethel and Newt Maddock, Nona spent the first 60 years of her life in Santa Cruz County. The Maddocks were descendants of Santa Cruz County pioneer Thomas Maddock, who settled in what is now Big Basin State Park. Her father and grandfather were part owners and founders of San Lorenzo Lumber.
Nona graduated from Santa Cruz High in 1955. After high school she married Chuck Smiley and had her son Rick. She later married, and was sadly widowed by, Bob Steenstrup, "Doc" Jordan, and Frank Silva. Her last spouse was Bob Tindall.
Nona always enjoyed socializing, whether it was through clubs, work, or simply entertaining from her home. After graduating high school Nona was employed through the Steenstrup Candy Company. Over the years she worked for a local flower shop, Mailboxes Etc. and Cattleman's Steakhouse. She was a member of the Santa Cruz Women's Club and the Cabrillo Lanes Bowling League. Around 2002 she relocated to Selma and retired there. Nona will always be fondly remembered by friends and loved ones. Private services will be held at a later date.
