Patricia Lee Hubert, long-time Aptos resident, passed away peacefully in her home on December 15, 2022. She was 78 years old.Pat was born in
Marin City, CA, to Joseph and Mary Ryan on February 16, 1944. She was the second child and only girl of four children; Michael Ryan (D. 2015) and two younger brothers, James Ryan (D. 1984) and Thomas Ryan. She was a lifetime California resident who moved to
Aptos, CA with her husband, Ernie Hubert (who preceded her in death in July 2000). Ernie and Pat were married in November of 1965 and moved to the small beach community in the late 60s where they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Kathryn. It was in Aptos where they found their happy home which would become the only home her children would ever know. As her children grew older, Pat returned to college at San Jose University, where she obtained her BS in Business and worked for the state of California as an Accountant until her retirement in the early 2000s. Pat attended high school in
Pleasant Hill, CA, and would remain close with many of her childhood friends. Their friendships continued through the years and thrived with annual trips to Tahoe to reconnect. It was when she returned to college where she made more lifetime friends and they would share travels near and far. Pat would continue to make these lifelong connections with people she met whether it be neighbors who shared her passion for gardening, or book club friends to share thoughts on the many, many books she read.Pat found great pleasure in her yard and garden and her flowers, especially her roses, were a source of pride and beauty because of her green thumb. She had an artistic flair and was naturally talented. Be it painting, crafting or quilting, her skill always shined through. She enjoyed all types of traveling, whether it was a trip to visit friends or family in another city or state or experiencing other countries. She would always come back with a little token of her travels, such as jewelry or a piece of art.Pat is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Tattersall of Sacramento and Kathryn Hubert of San Jose, her brother Tom Ryan of Georgia, son-in-law Neville Tattersall of Sacramento and her three grandchildren, Ryan Dailey of Santa Cruz and Ethan and Lily Tattersall of Sacramento. She is also survived by two amazing sisters-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews who will carry her in their hearts forever.Pat will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28th, at 1:30 at Benito and Azzaro, 1050 Cayuga St, Santa Cruz, 95062.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the
charity of your choice in loving memory of Pat.
