Patricia Ventura Obituary

Patricia "Patty" Ventura
June 29, 1915 - April 1, 2014
Resident of Santa Cruz
Services will be on Monday and Tuesday in Santa Cruz for Patricia Theresa Ventura who passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on April 1, 2014. Born to Italian immigrants Philip and Vincenza DiPrima, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she moved to the Santa Cruz area in 1951. She and her husband Tony owned and operated St. Charles Court on 3rd Street in Santa Cruz for 50 years, beginning in 1964. Patty and her Tony were actively involved in the rental and motel business, and served in various positions with both the California Apartment Association and the California Lodging Industry Association. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Many fond memories will forever be cherished of her love for family and the many talents she had as a seamstress. Her young daughter's dancing career from age 8 to 18, saw Patty creating every dance costume for her child; never once missing a performance or recital. She and her husband were parishioners of Holy Cross Church, and Patty was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council #971 in San Jose. She was an accomplished traveler; visiting destinations including London, Italy, Hawaii, Austria, Switzerland, Greece and Hong Kong.
Patty is survived by her two sons and daughter: Joseph, Philip and Ann Marie; and their spouses Marilyn of Roy Washington, Maureen of Denver Colorado, and Ernie Kaluzhny of San Francisco. Grandchildren: Mark, Janet, Lisa, Cynthia, Kathleen, Kevin, Petrina, Cattrina, Cherme, and Cherie. Three great grandchildren: Amanda, Henry and Amii, along with many loving extended family members. One of seven children, Patty was preceded in death by her six siblings.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a viewing to be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30 pm. A blessing service will be on Tuesday, April 8th at the chapel beginning at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mausoleum, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Tony.
