Paul Donovan Obituary

Paul Donovan, who passed away peacefully in his home on May 12, will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Paul was known for his intellect, sense of humor, and the compassion he shared with his family, friends, and business associates. He was an extremely talented writer, whose witty prose about technology, people, and issues appeared in many leading publications. His most prized published works included features he developed on high-tech homes, an overview of Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation, and an article commemorating George Burns.

Throughout his career, he worked for SONY, a variety of magazines, Southern California Edison, Harding Marketing, and several other marketing agencies. As an agency employee, developed communications for leading companies, such as IBM, Sun, and Hewlett-Packard. In addition to being a writer, he also was also an industry pioneer of corporate video in the 1980s, and received distinguished industry awards for creative excellence and innovation in corporate television. He mentored many individuals, who went on to take very prestigious jobs at leading corporations and the White House. He also taught television production and related courses at UCLA for more than 15 years and was well liked as an instructor.

Paul 57, is survived by his wife, Linda Donovan; his children Megan, Laura, Forest, Kevin and Michael; his mother, Elinor Courtney; and four brothers Brian, Robert, John and Mark. They will miss his loving, witty personality and his devotion to his family.

Paul died about six months after he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He fought a brave battle against this illness, and will always be remembered as a beloved, intelligent, creative man who brightened the lives of so many people.
