A private burial is planned for Robert Wayne Gayle who passed away November 12, 2005 while visiting family in Russellville, Arkansas. He was 69.Mr. Gayle was born February 19, 1936 in Abernathy, Texas, the son of John and Ruby Howard Gayle. He grew up in Abernathy and in Lamar, Arkansas. As a young man he served in the Army National Guard. Following his military service he was a farmer, raising livestock and growing hay and grain. In 1977 he moved to Santa Cruz where he worked as an upholsterer for Santa Cruz Mattress and Upholstery. He enjoyed tinkering and making things.He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Dianne Gayle in 1999. He is survived by his sons, Robert C. Gayle of Santa Cruz, David G. Gayle of Santa Cruz and Michael W. Gayle of Russellville, AR; three sisters, Barbara McCarley of Lamar, AR, Corrine Schaffer of Missouri and Claudine Dillard of Lamar, AR; he also leaves three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2627 Mattison Ln, Sp 59, Santa Cruz, CA. A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St, Santa Cruz, CA.In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. 4040 Moorpark Ave, Suite 105, San Jose, CA 95117.
