With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved, Dennis Lee Womack, a man who stood firm in his convictions, loved whole heartedly and left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those closest to him.
Dennis learned the value of hard work very young, working alongside his father in the family business, the James Womack Painting Company. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970 as a Private First Class, in the First Infantry Division, the "Big Red One".
Upon his return from Vietnam he attended Highlands University where he studied drafting. After completing his studies, he moved to Seattle to work alongside his brothers in the family's growing painting business. Eventually, he returned to Santa Fe where he proudly established his own venture, "Generation Painting and Sandblasting". It was in Santa Fe that he met and married Annette, his wife of 25 years.
Dennis was a devoted husband, proud father, grandfather, and steadfast friend.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Annette Womack, his children Denise Avila (Joe), Chad Muxlow, Darci Cogburn, Angelo "Lucky" Womack (Dana) and Preston Womack. Grandchildren: Joshua, Jovien, Jesse, Sunshine, Chase (Jordyn), Anna Marie, Tyler (Korinna), Christopher, Eric, Diego, Stevie Lee and one great Grandson Omarion. Dennis is also survived by his cherished sisters Bernice Valencia (Leroy), Maggie and Joyce Womack and brothers "Inky" Womack (Joy), and "Moosie" Womack, his mother-in-law Joann Roybal, sister-in-law Patricia Houston (Donald), his uncle Mac Lopez, whom he shared a special bond with and many nieces and nephews who will also miss him deeply.
He loved fiercely and was deeply loved in return. He was a keeper of amazing memories and had the best stories to tell. He had a gift for laughter - his own and the kind he shared with others; his laughter and the joy he brought will echo in our hearts forever.
