Benjamin C. Anaya 86, of Santa Fe, NM, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family, following a brief illness on February 3, 2023. Benjie was born in Galisteo, NM to Antonio and Juanita Anaya. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rosalie Dominguez (Tom), brothers Tony and Chris Anaya; brother in-laws, Juan, Joe, Carlos, Lupe Narvaiz and Larry Sandoval; sister in-laws, Maria Romero and Irene Montano; daughter-in-law Roberta Gomez. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years-Carmen, their children Joe Anaya, Debbie Ortiz (Frank), James and Kenny Anaya (Joanna); grandchildren, Jolene, Joseph and Jeremy Anaya (Alexandria)- whom he raised, Marcus (Jolene) and Kevin Ortiz, Daniel "Dj" Gomez and Cayla Montoya-Manzo; Great-grandchildren Analiyah, and Uzziah Armijo, Marissa, Zechariah and Marcos Benjamin Anaya, Jaylah, Isaiah and Josiah Ortiz; his sister Teresa Vasquez; sister-in-law Jennie Sandoval and brother-in-law Richard Montano; numerous nieces and nephews and God-children; lots of primos, special cousin (like a brother) Nick Anaya (Corrine).
Benjamin retired from LANL after 38 years. He enjoyed his retirement at his cabin in Tres Ritos, NM, with his wife and family. His hobbies were fishing, camping, hunting, doing arts and crafts with his wife, and spending time with his family. Benjie was always there to help anyone in need.
A viewing will take place Friday, February 10, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Berardinelli Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed Monday February 13, 2023, at 9:00 A.M., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anne's Catholic Church. A burial will take place the following day, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 12:00 pm, at Rosario Cemetery.
