Calvin Maxwell Obituary

CALVIN CHARLES MAXWELL Calvin Charles Maxwell passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2015, in Gresham, Oregon. He was born to Ellen Francis McKeown Maxwell and Charles Calvin Maxwell in Burlington, Iowa, on November 27, 1928. Calvin went to work in his early teens to help his mother support the family after his father passed away at a very early age. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1948 and worked at the Iowa Ordinance Plant. Calvin married Clarice Louise Freedman on August 29th, 1952. He relocated the family to Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1956, where he was offered a job working for Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories. His wife, Clarice passed away on February 20th, 1964. Calvin then married Erlinda Garcia. Calvin retired after working 35 years with Los Alamos Labs and moved back to Des Moines, IA, and married Virginia Beine Grothe on January 9, 2002. They thoroughly enjoyed each other's company until her death October 20th, 2006. He is survived by his sister Janet Perkins of Phoenix, AZ; daughters Pam Richardson of Albuquerque NM; Cindy Suppan of Iniskillen Ontario, Canada; Christina Reid of Juneau, AK; sons Charles Maxwell of Troutdale, OR; Kenneth Maxwell of Mukilteo, WA, and an adopted son Edward Maxwell of Santa Fe, NM, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His oldest sister, Diana Liebermann, of Reno, NV, preceded him in death March of this year. Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and camping. Calvin Maxwell will truly be missed but not forgotten. Details will be announced at a later date for his service in the summer.
