JERRY GONZALES Obituary
Jerry Gonzales, a lifelong Santa Fe resident, passed away July 12 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer.
Family and friends will remember him as a larger-than-life presence whose work as a contractor on homes in Santa Fe and the surrounding area will serve as an enduring memory of Jerry's dedication to his craft and the relationships he built in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Carolina Gonzales, and his brother Dan Gonzales. He is survived by his siblings, Albert Gonzales (LouAnn), Mabel Gonzales, and MaryLou Sandoval (Tom), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his significant other Nellie Garcia and her children Cynthia Sandoval (Tom), Brenda Garcia (Raymond), Joseph Garcia, and Donald Garcia.
His family would like to acknowledge Tony Barela, Patti Romero, and Barbara Salazar (David) for their help throughout his illness, as well as AmberCare Hospice and his in-home caregivers.
A rosary will be recited at Cristo Rey Catholic Church (1107 Cristo Rey St.) on Wednesday, July 19, at 10 a.m., with a funeral mass immediately after at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.

I was always proud that I had such a tall and strong cousin as a child. I had the opportunity to get to know him when I grew older. He and Mabel stood up for my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary when they renewed their vows. My parents were so grateful they took the place of their parents. Jerry was always kind. He loved to talk about his cabin and the wildlife he'd see. He fought valiantly. He was always warm and welcoming when we visited. Jerry, may you rest well in the presence of your beloved Supapan.
