Levi Valdez Obituary
March 27, 1943 – January 12, 2022. Born in Canjilon New Mexico to Maria and Porfirio Valdez.
On January 12 at 4:00 p.m. Levi J Valdez peacefully passed to eternal life after suffering a heart attack. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at Christus Saint Vincent Hospital ICU when he passed.
Levi was preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Manuel Valdez and his older brother Porfirio Fabian Valdez.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Isabel "Chavela" Valdez, children: Jason Carlos Valdez, 54 and wife Ann Lynn Valdez, son Daniel Levi Valdez, 47, daughter Angela Cristina Romero, 50 and son-in-law Carlos Romero. Levi is blessed with seven grandchildren: Michael Carlos Valdez, 21 twin granddaughters: Kathy Ann Valdez and Katie Beth Valdez, 19 Vincent Amadeo Valdez, 14 Marie Valentina Valdez,13 James Levi Valdez, 12 and Alessandra Librada Romero, 10. Levi is also survived by a niece Tanya Valdez Topete, nephew Manuel Fabian Valdez, from California. Levi has a surviving younger brother, Nelson Valdez and surviving lifelong best friend Freddie Aragon.
Levi is a 1961 graduate of Espanola High School, where he graduated with honors, he played on the football team (GO HORNETS) and played tuba in band. Levi received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1968 (GO AGGIES). After graduating from NMSU Levi was employed at US Federal Highways, NMDOT, Clark County, Las Vegas, NV, BIA (Eight Northern Pueblos) and last at Nambe Pueblo and Pojoaque as roads engineer and retired in 2018. Levi's hobbies were playing golf, showing and riding his horses, and belonged to the Santa Fe Charro Association. Levi calls Jacona, NM home.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for February 5th, 2p.m at Holy Cross Catholic Church, burial will follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery. Celebration of Levi's life will continue at Knights of Columbus Hall in Arroyo Seco.

Levi was a good friend of mine. I used to like and enjoy his quotes from the Bible and from Spanish dichos. He was intelligent, a good person, and a good engineer. RIP Levi!

Chavela, Martha and I want to extend our sympathy to you and your family on the dearth of Levi. We never new where you guys leaved. It was sad to here about Levi. Please send us you phone number so we can contact you. We always remember you at Las Cruses and when we were in Payson Arizona working for FHWA. Your son was 2 or 3 years old at that time.
