Marjorie Lark Obituary

Marjorie Elizabeth Lark Age 83, on May 29, 2008 passed away peacefully with her daughter, Karen Shull by her side, after a brief but valiant fight against breast cancer. Marge was born in Riley, Kansas on August 16, 1924, to Margaret and George Zeisset. She graduated from Leonardsville, Kansas high school. Marge worked as a telephone operator in Topeka, Kansas and as an operator/service assistant in Aurora, Illinois. She came to Los Alamos in December 1948, and worked as a telephone operator for the AEC. Marge later worked 25 years for Los Alamos National Lab in a variety of positions, and retired in 1990. Marge also worked part-time at the Los Alamos Medical Center, in admitting, for 15 years. Marge was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to the various tournaments, 24 Women's National Bowling Tournaments and many New Mexico State Bowling Tournaments thru the years. She was a member of the Tuesday Housewives Bowling League for many years and a continuous member for the past 18 years. Her adventurous spirit took her to many geological sites in and around New Mexico as a past member of the Los Alamos Geological Society. Marge's love of travel by air, boat, and train took her to nearly all 50 states, 6 foreign countries, and 3 continents. Her zest for life was an inspiration to her family and friends. Marge was always a source of support and encouragement to her many friends and acquaintances, and her dry wit will be greatly missed by all. Marge's love of animals lead her to be a much sought after pet/house sitter. She enjoyed all her kitties and dogs and kept a photograph file of her "BABIES". Her generous nature was evident in her support of the ASPCA, the Wildlife Center in Espanola, Christmas tree families, Carrie Tingley Children's Hospital, food drives, and many other charities and causes. Marge also loved music, nature, and crossword puzzles, and was famous for her banana bread. Marge was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Sheridan; and husband, Otto Olson. She is survived by daughters: Karen Shull and Shirley Roccia; grandchildren: Cara and Robert Bruce, Michael Roccia; great-grandsons: Jonathan Roccia and Braedon Bruce; her sister, Lila Dickson; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at the United Church of Los Alamos at 11 a.m., June 12, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to the Wildlife Center in Espanola.
