I had the privilege of working with Maurice at Prospect High School. Maurice was passionate in his desire to meet the needs of individual students. A caring, patient teacher, Maurice approached the teaching of mathematics with a deep appreciation for students and their diverse attitudes, skills, and fears. He taught students first, mathematics second. He welcomed me into his classroom as I worked to better understand strategies that motivated students. Maurice had the courage of his convictions and was willing to challenge our thinking and the status quo if doing so was in the best interest of students. As a young administrator, I learned from Maurice and greatly admired his devotion to students and to his discipline. I was a better teacher and administrator for having know him. Beyond all of this, Maurice was a friend. I am saddened by his passing. My condolences to all.
