Patricia Mayrant Obituary

PATRICIA ANN "PAT" VANNOY MAYRANT
DECEMBER 1, 1946–SEPTEMBER 24, 2023
Heavener - Patricia Ann "Pat" Vannoy Mayrant, 75 - was called to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, 9/24/2023 after a brief illness. Pat was born in Santa Fe, NM on December 1, 1946, to Floyd and Dorothy (Goodhart) Vannoy. Mom was a truly dedicated homemaker, devoted, patient wife and, most importantly, a loving mother who raised her family to be successful, self-sufficient, and confident. Instilling in them that there are no limits in becoming whomever and whatever one chooses to be in life. She was our confidant, as well as our pilar of strength and encouragement. She was also not afraid to administer discipline when necessary. Pat was a native of Santa Fe and relocated to Heavener, Oklahoma with her husband Tony and children Rodger and Sharon, where they retired to a country home.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd, and Dorothy Vannoy; her husband of 58 years, Anthony "Tony" Mayrant; sister Sandra "Sandy" Martinez (Archie); brother Johnny Vannoy (Dolores); nephew Ralph Martinez and niece April Martinez. She is survived by her children, Chris Mayrant (Bobbi) of Stanley; David Mayrant (Lily) of Rowe; Rodger Mayrant of Heavener, OK; and Sharon Hayer (David) of Heavener, OK. Her grandchildren, Justin Mayrant (Amanda) of Santa Fe: Amanda Martinez (Pete) of Las Vegas, NM; Alana Mayrant of Las Vegas, NM; Amarah, Robert, Bridget, and Emily Hayer of Heavener, OK. Two great-grandchildren, Leland and Landon Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; and niece Rachel Vannoy of Santa Fe, NM.
Mom, we miss you, and your passing leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled; you were always there for us. Rest in peace until we meet again.
Our mother's remains will be laid to rest at the Reichert Cemetery, in Reichert, OK. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, OK. No services are scheduled per her wishes.

I wrote this for Mom last Mother's Day and I am so glad I did. Take the time to let loved ones know how you feel every chance you get; life is so short.

Happy Mother´s Day, Mom,

I know this has been a really tough few years on all of us, especially you. I want you to know that I love you very much and I am truly grateful for the way you raised me. You are the reason that I didn´t turn out as bad. I am still far from perfect and inherited some bad and unhealthy traits. If it wasn´t for you, I don't know how life for me would have evolved; you always told me that I could be anything I wanted to be and many times, that is what got me through most of my challenges, especially with my career. I did my best at other things too, like trying to be a good father and husband but we aren´t all be cut out to be good at everything as we are human. All we can hope for is to set the best example we can, create as many good memories as possible for our children and loved ones and hope that they will remember and appreciate it someday.

You never gave up on us; you started very young and the older I get, the more I realize how young you were as a mother. You sacrificed so much of your life and happiness at times to get us through tough times and be the best mother you could. There is no instruction manual on being a good parent and you did well.

I will never forget all the mornings you got up tired, (I know the feeling now) and made sure we had breakfast and lunch money before school. I remember the days you took me back and forth in the old Plymouth to school and catechism no matter what the weather was like. I didn´t know it at the time, but that was setting a positive example for me, and teaching responsibility.
I wish I could be there for Mother´s Day; I will never be able to express my gratitude and appreciation for all you have done for me, you have always been there. You have been there to listen to me during many of my dramas, and you have always had words of support, wisdom and comfort and I might not have made it through some of those times if not for those things. Even when I was in high school, I would call you during lunch just to hear a comforting voice in that big, scary school that was so far from Wood-Gormley and Harrington.

I know this year; this day will not be easy since Dad passed, but I want you to know I think of you everyday and love you very much and will always be here for you if you need anything.

I typed this on my computer because my handwriting is terrible
Happy Mother´s Day!

Chris

In 1960, we moved in to a lovely established neighborhood with all the original owners still living there after 12 years. Dorothy Vannoy was our next door neighbor living there with her two daughters and 1 son. As her children left the nest, Dorothy also moved on. After Dorothy passed, her son, then Sandy also passed. Now her eldest daughter Patsy has gone to join her husband and family. Rest in Peace Patsy. Condolences to her children and grandchildren.
