Paul Agriesti Obituary

PAUL A. AGRIESTI
Paul A. Agriesti, age 84, was born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 14, 1940. He passed away on June 9, 2024.
He graduated from Ohio Northern University and earned a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1966. He worked for six years at the State Library of Ohio, and in 1971, he took the job of city librarian for Farmington, New Mexico. In 1975, he accepted the position of Deputy Director of New Mexico Library in Santa Fe. He served 26 years in this position, with the last two years being devoted to the planning of the new State Library building and overseeing the moving of three million books, etc. when the building was completed. He retired in 2002.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Rocco and Giuseppina Agriesti, and his sisters, Jennie Agriesti, Ruth Ridenour, and Laura Jones. He is survived by his brothers Daniel and David (Sharon) Agriesti, and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was one of my best friends at Ohio Northern University. We both held positions as librarians. I met his Columbus, Ohio, family only once - lovely people. We lost touch & met at a national conference one time. I admire his years of work for the citizens of New Mexico.
