RAY LUCERO Obituary

RAY LUCERO
Ray Lucero passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 4th. Ray was born near Glorieta, NM on January 5th, 1936, to David and Bernardita Lucero. He lived his entire life in the Santa Fe area except for the time he served his country in the Army at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
Ray started working at a young age in the hospitality industry, working at La Fonda, then La Posada, for a total of 16 years, then worked in car sales for many years at Santa Fe Motor Company and Valencia Motors. Ray also invested in several rental properties during his working years, and once retired, he focused on being a landlord.
Ray was a lifelong Catholic and attended the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi his entire adult life. Ray was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He was married to his wife, Connie, for 56 years and raised four children with her. He was a long time Denver Broncos and UNM Lobos fan. He enjoyed keeping his back yard oasis looking beautiful, loved to cook, and loved to spoil his 3 grandchildren.
Ray was a gregarious man with a great sense of humor who made many friends during his long life, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Ray came from a large family with 11 siblings with whom he routinely kept in touch.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife Connie, sisters Gloria Baca, Donna Montoya, Angie Lynch, and brother Tony. He is survived by his children, Eddie (Kathy), Rosanne McNeilly (Greg), Bernard (Karen) and Stephanie Romero (Chris), grandchildren Erin Duffy (Kyle), Nathan McNeilly and Jayden Romero, sisters Corrine Garcia, Mary Lou Martinez, Helen Valdez (Eloy), Lupe Lujan (Alfred), brothers Vincent, David (Patsy), and Fred (Josie), and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 19th at the
Cathedral, rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m.
with the burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
