SAMMY T. MONTOYA
Sammy T. Montoya, of La Cienega, was born on July 28, 1950, and went with the Lord on October 8, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jake, and mother, Lourdes; three brothers, Raymond, Jake, and Joseph; and three sisters, Dolores, Anna Mae, and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; his eight children: Angelica (Ray), Sam (Leah), Dorothy, Aaron, Isaac, Priscilla, Gabriel, and Jacqueline; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosella and Diana; and many more beloved family members.
Sammy was born and raised in Santa Fe. He graduated from Santa Fe High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea. He later married his high school sweetheart, Norma.
He earned an Associate of Science degree in Electrical Technology from Highlands University and became the first Electrical Inspector for the City of Santa Fe. Sammy was also a General Contractor and owned his own business. He was generous with his skills, always helping those in need, and instilled a strong work ethic in his children.
A creative and dedicated man, Sammy continued to enjoy gardening and home improvement projects after retirement. He loved gathering with friends for lunch, drinks, and reminiscing about life experiences.
Faith and family were central to his life. He valued bringing his family together in his home to pray the rosary and celebrate religious holidays. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
