SARA PROCTOR Obituary
After a long illness, SARA PROCTOR died in her Santa Fe home on Sunday, August 31. She was eighty years old.
Sara devoted her life to intensive learning, compassionate service, and loving kindness. "I am, at core, curious and optimistic," she once wrote. "I look for connections with people seeking their next level of development."
In late 1970's Vermont, Sara co-founded a holistic health center. She served as the center's first executive director. Sara fulfilled a lifelong commitment to "helping little children feel safe" by working as a family court investigator, an early childhood educator, and a high-risk nursing consultant. She spent fifty years as a builder, ultimately specializing in disability access design. Her work enabled Santa Fe homeowners to adapt to the mobility challenges of aging.
Ms. Proctor is survived by her husband Sam Shaffer, their son Jacob Proctor, Jacob's wife Lisa Oppenheim, and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Santa Fe later this year. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Food Depot, 1222A Siler Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
