Alvin Harding Obituary

ALVIN A. HARDING
1925 - 2008

Alvin, the moon man, the family man, the great outdoorsman passed away March 19th, 2008 about 4:00 o'clock in Burener, Washington. He was born in 1925. He lived by the moon and loved his family and wife Phyllis more than anything. He left us without fulfilling his final dreams of getting one last buck and to go fishing, but his family will make sure to get'em for him. He was a teacher to many people, and everyone that got to know him thought of him as family. So he will live on in many hearts of his family and the friends who thought of him as family. He went to join his loved ones above to watch over us. There will be no service for he wanted all of us to
remember him the way he was.

What can I say? He taught me to fish. He taught me about the moon. He took me a lot of places that I would never have got to go if it hadn't been for him. He was someone that you met and couldn't help but love. It is hard to say all the good things that a man like Al did, but I can say one thing, he was my grandpa and I love him and miss him greatly. I was with him when he was at his worst and it is nice to know that he is no longer in the pain that was haunting him at the end. "I love you grandpa make sure to say hi to my mom for me."

AL HARDING: Its not often you meet a person who you can compare to your own father but that’s what Al was to me. From the first day I met him it was like he knew me my whole life. He was never one to judge people, I believe he was the hardest worker I ever met, but the thing that sticks out most is he put his family before himself and always made sure my family had what we needed. If it wasn’t for Al and Phillis we wouldn’t have made it this far and for that I know I will never be able to repay them. The only promise I can make is to take care of his Grand Daughter and great Grand children as he would have done, and always did. If I made a list of the things he taught me it would go on forever. I know I can never repay him for all the good things he brought to us and I miss him every day. Thanks for letting me be a part of your life.

What I remember about Uncle Al was for a big hug, a happy smile and a jolly laugh. He always had a handful of jerky which I loved. When he came to the property him and “Spark Plug”, our nasty Rat Terrier”, use to go to the top of the property and piddle to the heavens above. I bet that’s what he is doing right now.
I love you Uncle Al. Hang in there Aunt Phil, you are loved.

Uncle Al, just thinking about him brings a smile to my face. I have many memories of him and all are good. As a child I would visit him and Aunt Phil for the summer. Him and I would get up at before the sun and drive down to pier and go fishing. Later in life I always remember him on our property ….. tinkering…..he would get an old piece of equipment and …..tinker…..just him and our sons rat terrier “spark plug”. If any of you who know “spark plug” you know he is not what you call a “lovable” dog but he loved Uncle Al, the dog would cry when he saw them driving up….no body else besides Calvin would he do this for. Then there was the time he brought a rabbit trap to the property and he and my son Calvin (11 at the time) set it up. Of course they forgot about it, and a week or so later my dogs keep getting sprayed by a skunk. I finally went searching for the problem and, you guessed it, the rabbit trap had a skunk in it. It took a month to get the smell out of our house from the dogs. I can remember calling him about it and he just laughed and laughed. I will miss him but I know he and my mom are in heaven having one on us.

Al Harding…The husband, the father, the grandfather, the brother-in-law. All of you can call him whatever you want but he was MY UNCLE AL, my second father. The man that took me hunting and fishing whenever I visited or he visited. The mountain man, the man of steel, for all that knew him how many times did you see this man ever breakdown, in my 52 years not once did I. Well I could write a book here but I won’t. So in closing I will say May God Bless, I will miss MY UNCLE AL! I just hope he is one of my guardian angels, if he is I know he will protect me until the day we will meet again.
MAY GOD BLESS THE WHOLE FAMILY
