Aurora Castro Mendez, was born in El Rancho de Los Padres, Municipio de Villa Victoria, Estado de Mexico, She was born to Macrina Castro Ramirez and Antonio Mercado Garcia. MS Mendez passed away peacefully March 20, 2013 at the age of 87 due to a sudden illness at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital. She was a very compassionate mother who raised, loved, and cared for her children and grandchildren alike. She was a warm person who believed that anyone who came to her home was welcome to her table and offered them her finest, greatest cooking. She was and will always be the person who created the best meals. She loved to spend her days working on her garden. She was a faithful and loving wife who catered to her husband. He was truly the love of her life for over sixty years. She didn't have formal training in sewing but she could patch and made the most beautiful vintage aprons. She was a gift and a blessing to many people who she encouraged and comforted in bad times.
She is survived by her sisters Tayde and Silvina Mercado of Mexico, her daughters Olga Blockmon (Paul) of Arroyo Grande, Amalia Rea (Ralph), Rosa H. Moore (Allen) of Santa Maria and her son Joaquin Mendez (Sally), of Nipomo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. MS Mendez was preceded in death by her brothers Luis, Teodolo, Alvaro, Alfonso, her son Marco Antonio Mendez and loving husband Eusebio Amaro Mendez.
Viewing will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on 26 March, at Lady Family Mortuary Chapel, located at 555 Fair Oaks Avenue, Arroyo Grande, CA. Graveside services will be on March 27 at 10:00am at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family. She enjoyed studying the Bible.
