Bonnie McPhee Obituary

Mrs. Bonnie J. McPhee
Mrs. Bonnie J. McPhee, 73, passed away December 12, 2009, from injuries in an automobile accident on November 30, 2009. Bonnie was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin; the first of five children of Catherine and Lester Getschman. She moved to Detroit to attend college in 1958, but marriage and children kept her out of college for several years.
Bonnie's professional career was in the data processing field. She progressed from keypunch operator to programmer to systems analyst to Director of Systems and Programming for an Ohio electric company based in Columbus. She was an enthusiastic member of the Association of Systems Management and won numerous awards. She received certification as a CSP (Certified Systems Professional) from ASM in 1985. She was listed in the 1989-90 edition of Who's Who in Finance an Industry. In 1987-88 Bonnie was the president of the Central Ohio Chapter of ASM. Bonnie graduated from Franklin University with A BA in 1985 and from Capital University with an MBA in 1987.
Bonnie retired from the Cuesta College Library where she was in charge of cataloging.
She had two all-consuming hobbies: knitting and reading which filled her life. She also volunteered at the Orcutt Library where they miss her greatly.
Bonnie and husband, Larry, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year and they visited with Bonnie's family over Thanksgiving. They had two children, Steven and Laurel and a long and happy marriage. Bonnie is survived by her husband Larry McPhee; her sisters Phyllis Hastings, Kay Withers and Patricia Egle; her brother James Getschman; her son Steven McPhee and his wife Christine; her daughter Laurel Brundage and her husband Greg Brundage; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are through he Neptune Society. Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie's memory to the First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
