Daniel Soto Obituary

Daniel Soto

1948 - 2022

Daniel Soto, 73, of Santa Maria, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2022.

Dan was born on September 26, 1948 to Eugene and Mary Soto in Oakland, CA. He was raised in Bakersfield, CA where he graduated from Bakersfield High School.

After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army during which he served one term while being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War

After returning from the Army, he met Elaine, and they wed in 1972 and moved to Santa Maria, CA where he began working for Okonite and eventually the United States Postal Service.

Dan was always intrigued by the world. Wanting to learn more about new things or ideas that he would be introduced to. Learning the purpose and history of everything. An avid lover of music, you would always find him listening to the likes of James Brown, Al Green, Otis Redding, or Jimi Hendrix.

He will be loved and missed by many people, as he never knew a stranger for long. Dan was never afraid to share a story or a laugh with anyone he would meet.

He is survived by his loving wife Elaine of almost 50 years, children Danny (Susan), Gabriel (Lindsay), and Matthew (Roseelyn), grandchildren Paul, Eric, Jeremiah, and Sarai. And his 12 siblings Mike, Renie, Eugene, Ruth, Benny, Dinah, Rosie, Elizabeth, David, Anna, Reuben, and Joey.

My brother Danny my heart and soul- we enjoyed many special memories of our growing up. Danny was always discovering and always very curious, he needed to know how things worked.
He wanted to know what Babysitting was,
I took him with me to my Babysitting as my assistant, he played with the kids and watched TV, ate ice cream, he loved Babysitting after that.
Danny loved barbecuing, his specialty tri-tip steaks with special seasoning, very tasty.
I thank God for my gift of my brother Danny, his love, his laugh, his stories, his memory is forever etched in my heart and mind. Danny is greatly missed, may his soul forever rest peacefully. Love you Danny. I miss you. Your big sister

Brother Danny had a smile that would make you feel at ease with his sense of humor and love. He encouraged his family and friends to stand up for their rights, helping my son fight for his job back. We will miss you Uncle Danny.

I grew up with Danny-in Bakersfield, California and considered him one of my Best friends . We would race on Gorrill street and he would beat me every time.
I remember he was vey smart in school and would treat me for snacks and a soda at Tommy’s Market. He was kind and very generous and I’m going to miss him.
May God Bless the Soto Family with strength to pass through this difficult time.
