Delfina Lopez
1932 - 2024
Delfina Lopez, born on December 24, 1932, in Redford, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, in Santa Maria, California, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted husband of 64 years, Luis Lopez.
Delfina grew up in Texas and moved to California in 1955, where she met the love of her life, Luis. After waiting for him to return from the Navy, they married in February 1960 and built a beautiful life together filled with love, family, and devotion.
A loving and dedicated wife and mother, Delfina's life revolved around caring for her family. She and Luis raised three sons, and Delfina was the heart of their home, always cooking, cleaning, and making sure her boys were well taken care of, especially while Luis was away working as a fireman at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to family extended to her many nieces, who affectionately called her their "little Tía."
Delfina was also an incredible grandmother. She was always there for her grandchildren, happily driving them wherever they needed to be and rarely missing the opportunity to chaperone a field trip or attend a softball game. She brought immense joy and love into the lives of her family, and her grandchildren will forever cherish the memories they created with her.
In their retirement years, Delfina and Luis enjoyed traveling and camping with friends, exploring new places, and savoring the joys of life together. Their adventures and companionship were a testament to the deep bond they shared throughout their 64 years of marriage.
Delfina is survived by her beloved husband, Luis Lopez, her sons Ralph Lopez and Luis Lopez Jr., her sister Olivia Sanchez, and her cherished grandchildren: Lorraine Reyes, Tim Lopez, Denise Vasquez, Jessica Dulay, and Christian Lopez. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as nine great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Lopez, daughter-in-law Rosie Lopez, her sister Marcela Lopez, and her brother Richard Acosta.
Delfina's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, warmth, and devotion to those she held dear.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Cemetery. A reception will follow to celebrate Delfina's life with family and friends.
