Gabriel Carreras Obituary
1989 - 2025
Gabriel "Gabe " Carreras, 35, of Santa Maria, CA passed away on March 7th, 2025. Gabe was born in Santa Maria, CA on March 16th, 1989. Gabe attended grade school in Santa Maria as well as in Exeter, he attended Jr. High in Pismo Beach and graduated High School from Arroyo Grande.
After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School, Gabe joined the US Navy. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom while aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower. He did two deployments: 2008/2009 and 2009/2010. He served as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer. After the Navy he moved to Ohio and there he graduated from the University of Cincinnati with several degree A. A. in Manufacturing Management, B.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology's Design and B.S. Mechanical E Engineering Technology - Manufacturing Management
Gabe's ultimate goal was to come back home to the Central Coast. Which he achieved in 2019. He was so happy to be back home and with his family, along with his cat, Duck.
Gabe really took advantage of being back at home on the Central Coast and thus his love for woodworking and hiking began. He was very proud of all the projects he took on and focusing on his physical health. Hiking was his passion and something he enjoyed doing with his family and his girlfriend, Berenice. He found someone who was just as passionate about hiking, the beach, the outdoors and family as he was.
Gabe is survived by his mother, Lydia Carreras, his father, Lino Carreras, his sister, Sarenna (Travis) Gunderson and family and his sister, Lina Carreras and family, all of Santa Maria, CA.
His services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1pm at the Chapel of Dudley Hoffman Mortuary with military honors. A reception will immediately follow at the Santa Maria Eagles at 668 S. College Dr.

My family had the honor of having Gabe as a neighbor. He was always cheerful and waved hello to me and my son. Gabe, we will truly miss you. You might be gone, but never forgot forgotten. May you rest in peace and the perpetual light shine upon you.
