Gina Baciu Obituary
1950 - 2021
Gina L Baciu of Santa Maria passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021, she was 71. Born in Altadena, she was the daughter of Evelyn H Grissom. She spent her childhood in Richmond and Atwater, where she graduated high school. The family relocated to Fresno in 1969 where she attended Fresno State University and graduated with honors. After attending University, Gina took a trip of a lifetime, traveling extensively in Europe. After returning, she continued her studies at Cal State Los Angeles and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She met her husband George Baciu during her studies and, after marrying in June 1978, they moved to Santa Maria. They welcomed their only son Andrew born in June 1980. They moved to Atwater in 1985 to help care for her grandparents. There, Gina and her Mom opened Rapid Copy in Atwater. The family returned to Santa Maria in 1992 where they opened Copies Plus in Nipomo.
After retirement Gina and George bought an RV and enjoyed traveling throughout the Western United States. She documented their many travels in scrapbook binders. Gina was extremely artistic and continued painting, decoupaging, and crafting doll houses and clothes for her nieces and great nieces. Her other passion was gardening and she collected a great variety of plants and succulents. She was also a talented cook and her many signature dishes will be much missed at family gatherings.
She is survived by her Husband, George Baciu and her son Andrew Baciu of Santa Maria, CA, her twin sisters Berrinda Lenz Shipley of Tucson and Virginia Lenz Moore of Mesa, AZ; Nieces and Nephews Christopher Arredondo and wife Stephanie, Berrinda Couszins and husband Andrew, Tori Roe and her Husband Brendan; and many more great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Marian Medical Center and Dignity Health Hospice, for their exceptional care. No services will be held at Gina's request. Memorials may be made to the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society, 1687 W. Stowell Road, Santa Maria, CA 93458.
