Jeanette Barnard Obituary
Jeanette E Barnard (Grams)
1937 - 2024
Jeanette Barnard, known as "Grams" to generations of students, ended her journey with us on 3rd of May 2024. Married for 43 years to Raymond N Barnard, whom she'd had a "crush on," since the 3rd grade. Jeanette is survived by her three children, Elliott, Amber, and Clinton Barnard, and four grandchildren Neil, Eric, Autumn and AmberRose Barnard. Jeanette was with the Orcutt Union School District over some two decades where she inspired legions of young children, whom she called, "Her Little People," to appreciate a love of learning. For decades after, her students would make their way to her front door to continue their connection with her. Jeanette was widely traveled and enjoyed meeting new friends on every continent. Many of those whom she met became life-long friends by visiting and staying in touch until the end. She was so very full of life, loved to laugh and had a truly remarkable sense of humor. A previous student of her's once said, "She could put a smile of the Grinch's face." She had such insightful wisdom and incredible common sense. Few will be surprised, to learn, given her grace, that she danced classical ballet for eighteen years and then taught it to a new generation. Jeanette was FUN! She was an enormously social woman, loved to entertain and have house guests year-round, when she wasn't on the road, near or far, in one of her motorhomes. She adored pets of every kind. She and Raymond raised the Shar Pei breed when they were first introduced into the USA, but enjoyed, and owned, just about every known breed. In addition to always having devoted dogs and cats by her side, she ensured that her children experienced pets of all kinds, horses, pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, rabbits, turtles, hamsters, birds, and fish. If it had fur and needed a home, Jeanette took it in and lavished it with love, care, and kindness. Jeanette was an amazing friend who could be counted on at any time, night or day, to someone in need. She'd "take the shirt off her back and give it to you, if needed." This truly extraordinary woman leaves a great void in the lives of all who knew her, but she leaves behind exceptional memories will help fill that space. Mama, we will love and miss you forever.
Please feel free to join us for a "Celebration of Life," which will be held on Saturday, 13th of July at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and the Lake Marie Club House, East Clark Avenue, Orcutt CA 93455. Her family would appreciate it if you wear something ORANGE to this gathering as it was Jeanette's favorite color!
