Juan Barba Obituary

Juan Carlos Barba (Carlos)
Juan Carlos Barba (Carlos), age 45, went to his rest on May 7th, 2010. He was born, raised and spent his whole life in Santa Maria.
Carlos was born to David and Josefina Barba on January 5th, 1965, the 6th of 7 children. Carlos is survived by his mother, Josefina Barba, son, Alex Barba, daughter, Kelsie Barba, his brothers Justo, David and Albert Barba, his sisters, Rebecca Rodriquez, Maria Elena Guerra, Alicia Johnston and Ernestina Everett and by his loving partner, Christina Duckworth. He was preceded in death by his father, David G. Barba.
Carlos, like his father and brother Albert, was a concrete man; a cement finisher by trade. He specialized in custom concrete. Truth is, Carlos was an artist and cement was his canvas.
Carlos loved his Santa Maria Barbeque, the Raiders, fishing at Port San Luis and being surrounded by friends who endearingly called him "Carlitos".
Visitation and rosary will be held at St. Louis de Montfort on Thursday, May 13th. The visitation will be from 5:00PM until 6:00PM followed by the Rosary. The Mass of the Christian Burial will also take place at St. Louis de Montfort on Friday, May 14th, at 9:00AM. The burial will follow immediately at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lori Family Mortuary.

I am deeply saddened by Carlos's early passing. I remember Carlos as an inquisitive young kid, always wanting to learn about different things. I had an opportunity to bump into him as an adult and find he still had that same inquisitive nature. My memory of him will always be of that young, respectful, fun loving little boy with the light colored brown hair. My heart as well as that of my entire family goes out to the Barba family.

Carlos' little brother Albert (Bet) and I used to hang out a lot as they lived two doors down from me in the "Hood". My fondest memory is that I learned how to ride a motorcycle because of them. I'd see Carlos ride up and down the block on his 125cc. I'll miss you like a brother cause those that hung out in the "Hood" were all brothers and sisters of mine.

Carlos was not only a good man he was a good friend. For a little while I used to help him lay his concrete. It was amazing to see him at work. He will be missed and though this is a time of sorrow it is also a time of joy because he is in a much better place now with no suffering or pain. I believe now that he is up there with my brother looking down and protecting all of us that he so dearly loved. My prayers are with your family.
