Mark A. Gomes

1948 - 2024

Mark Gomes passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, after a long illness. He was born on May 13, 1948, to Anthony and Jane Gomes in Santa Maria, where he spent his entire life. He attended elementary and middle school In Santa Maria and high school in San Luis Obispo. He attended St. Mary's College, followed by four years in the Navy, and completed his education at Cal Poly.

He was pre-deceased by his son Scott K. Gomes, and his sister Pamela Gomes-St. Aubin. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane, two grandsons, Cameron and Carson, daughter-in-law, Esther, his aunt, Mickey Freeman, his brother, Michael (Leslie), niece, Lauren and nephew, Adam (Ginny), niece, Kelley, (Buddy Allain) and their son Zackary.

He was a respected general contractor, a member of the Police Council, an active member of the local Friends of NRA, and a board member and a founding member of the Chimineas Ranch Foundation where he organized youth hunts and helped maintain the ranch facility.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a tremendous love of the outdoors.

A celebration mass will be held at St. Luis De Montfort on Wednesday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service.

So sorry to hear that Mark has passed away he his dad and brother built a family room addition on my house in the mid 1970s I got to know Mark and his Dad thur his brother Mike. Everything they built was perfect there craftsmanship had no equal. I am sure Mark is helping God making heaven a better place.
