Michael Ensign Obituary
1941 - 2010
Michael James Ensign, 68, of Orcutt, passed away suddenly in his home on January 2, 2010. Michael was born on September 22, 1941, in Waukegan, Illinois. Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1958 and served two tours in Vietnam. Mike retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. He went on to work for Abex Aerospace for 16 years and most recently retired from Cal State Auto Parts.
In 1961 he met his bride Joanne Haskill of Banning, CA, and was married one week later.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He spent several years involved with Orcutt Youth Softball.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Joanne Haskill Ensign. Daughters Mikki Ensign Robinson of Santa Maria, Ginger Ensign of Santa Maria, Kristene Ensign Roberson and husband Glenn of Hollister, Ca., Allen Ensign and wife Patricia of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren Marissa Robinson, Susie and Jason Reed, Sara Robinson, and Chris Layton of Santa Maria, and Hailey and Brandon Ensign of Las Vegas, NV. Great-grandchildren Alexandra and Izabella Robinson and Lillian and Jordan Reed. Sister and brother- in -law Joyce and Gilbert Koeppe of Orcutt and several nephews and nieces.
A service to celebrate his life will take place Thursday, January 7th, at 11:00 am, at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 East Stowell Road, in Santa Maria, CA.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley - Hoffman Mortuary and Crematory.
