I grew up on Blue Barns Rd, was quite familiar with Fo'Castle Farm. I left the area many years ago but returned each year to pick Cortland apples to bring back to Utah. Last week I was shocked to see the orchard & Alan gone.

Having the good fortune to grow up with many aunts and uncles in my life when I was growing upstate New York.
Many years we went to Cape Cod for a week collecting seashells and waiting for the egg lady to let everyone know that fresh eggs were available.
We flew kites and had ice cream most days. I remember my Uncle Alan boiling fresh lobsters and making sure everyone had what they needed. He was a gentleman to all.
I worked for my Uncle and with his daughters at the Country Store.
I learned a lot from him about treating customers with respect and to do what is right.
After graduating from college, I struggled to find my first job.
My Uncle rehired me back and paid me more than he had paid me before out of respect for my newly acquired college degree.
I miss him already and was thankful to be able to speak him one last time this fall.
