At 13 years old, Back in 1968, he inspired me, encouraged me and gave me some vision. I am so sad to hear of his death but so happy to hear that he was honored, as he should have been.

Can you just imagine a world populated by people who share Arty's countless exceptional qualities?! Kindness would abound; genuine compassion toward others would be the rule; enduring, loving devotion to one's spouse would prevail; and especially today, in contrast to countries at war, we would know peaceful brotherhood, respect towards all....and the willingness to share one's talents for the common good.
Those leaving comments here have been eloquent in their heartfelt praise, and that's a tribute to a great man and a great human being.

Arty was one of a kind, warm, understanding and supportive. At the same time he was a passionate, fiery competitor who led by example. He remained close to many of us well after high school. My condolences to you Nancy, and thank you for being with him all these years.

Mr Waugh, was one of the most amazing humans to have lived. He encouraged my creativity in high school as did his beautiful wife in middle school. I loved doing side projects with him, and he kept my work for future classes. Every time I do pick up my sketchbook to draw.. Mr Waugh's smile is always there encouraging me. RIP, Mr. Waugh. You touched so many life's. We will carry your memory forever. Much love and condolences to Mrs Waugh and his family.

Mr./Coach Waugh is one of the legends of Guilderland teaching and coaching. He inspired many through his work as an art teacher and countless more as a coach.

"In the end, when life´s last flickers fade, all that remains is memory. Richness, in the final measure, is not weighed in gold coins, but in the number of people you have touched, the tears of those who mourn your passing, and the fond remembrances of those who continue to celebrate your life."

Coach Waugh was a great inspiration during 1979-1980 as the offensive and defensive line coach when I was at high school. He never yelled, but always inspired. He treated everyone equally and with respect. Thank you Coach for the example you set and the lasting memories.
