Cecil was a wonderful, unique man who just made everyone he met smile. I still get tears in my eyes seeing the picture of him with the banjo I gave to him and remembering the joy it gave him. Broadway wasn't the same without you. Rest well in the arms of God my friend!

Its been months now since you been gone and the pain hasn't eased up a bit. To some you were an inspiration, a friend and a leader... to me, you were my father and my hero. You taught me many things, like how to be a man. Also, how important family is. Having to watch you suffer without being able to help was the worse possible thing for me. I asked god many times why this kind of thing could happen to such a good person. I would of sacrificed myself and traded places with you just to see you on your feet and well again. You didnt derserve to suffer the way you did. You gave so much to this family and friends. I miss you dearly and god saved a special place for you. Tell Bob Marley I said HI "As I stand before you, with a broken heart. There's so many things to say but I dont know where to start. Watching you suffer is the worse thing I been through. Wanting to help but knowing theres nothing i can do. So I stuck by your side and tokd you how every little thing will be alright. You were so humble even in so much pain. Now my heart crumbles, knowing things won't be the same. So now its my father who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name. And even though I mourn your loss, I still have your blood running through my veins. You fought so diligently and with grace. I still remember the last time I saw that smile on your face... but now you smile down from a much better place. And all your poem is gone. Now that your in heaven, can you play my favorite song? this time i wont be there to sing along. All I want to do is hug you.In your final moments, I wish I was there to tell you 'I LOVE YOU' Now that your in heaven i will always have someone to look up to. Watch over me as you always have and I promise to make you proud like you've always asked. Cause from the bottom of my heart I LOVE YOU, FOREVER & ALWAYS DAD." -Joshua Myrie aka Thee Impressive. Dear Myrie family, I am so sorry for your loss, our loss too. I always enjoyed sitting with Cecil whenever I was in Saratoga. I too am a musician and Cecil would always ask where I was playing and if he had the chance he would come to hear a few songs. Whenever I went to Hatties I would get an extra dinner for him because he never left his bench. RIP Cecil, Toga will never be the same.

Dear family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Cecil was a man of the people, being a friend to all he met. I will never forget the day that I took my new banjo down to Broadway and asked him if he could tune it for me. When I asked him if he liked the instrument, he said it was a fine one. When I told him it was his to make beautiful music for us he was so ecstatic, asking me if I minded that he kept his old guitar case visible for people to give him donations. When I walked by later, he was telling everyone that I just gave him a new banjo. Just to see his beautiful smiling face was all the thanks I needed.
God Speed my dear friend Cecil!! You will be greatly missed.
