Father Dan was, to all who knew him, a compassionate, divine man of the cloth. He enjoyed his family and his friends throughout his lifetime and was a very special person to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Father Dan was predeceased by his sister-in-law Rose Nolan; uncle Howard Nolan Sr. (Helen); aunts Beatrice Farrell and Mary Healy and cousin S/Sgt William Farrell who served in the Battle of the Bulge. Dan Nolan and I spent three years in the seminary together. One at Mater Christi and two at St. Mary´s Pack Street. I tried unsuccessfully to find him about 15 years ago. He was an amazing athlete and judging from these accolades a dedicated priest. Requiem aternam dona eam Domine!

I remember Fr. Dan from seminary days as a friendly, kind, sensitive young man who stood out in my mind for his prayerfulness and deep spirituality.

You don't forget the boyhood & lifelong friend that you named your first born son after! In our case that would be our son Daniel Nolan Leahy. True story: Early in 2019 at age 58 our son Dan was diagnosed with serious cancer. He continued treatments throughout the year and in Oct. he was given the good news that he was cancer free. I firmly believe that the spirit of my friend, in heaven, Dan Nolan, had a bearing on Dan Leahy being cured of the dreaded "C". You see Fr. Dan doesn't forget us either. Jack & Bobbi

Father Nolan and his family were long time friends with my family, Jane & Frank Hannaberry. Father Nolan officiated at my marriage to Carl T Scarda, April 1971. We lost contact with the Nolans through the years since we live near York, Pennsylvania. I just found this obituary on the internet.

I was surprised to hear that Father Dan passed away. My Dad, Harry Robens, always spoke of Father Dan as a great man -- they were best of friends growing up. I was fortunate to know Father Dan, and got a glimpse of why my Dad thought so highly of him. They are reunited in heaven catching up on the "good old days".

My prayers are with Father Dan and his family.

Sincerely,
Joe Robens

My deepest sympathies on the untimely death of Father Dan. What a great, good man and holy priest. I am using his life as an inspiration for my own kids and those I teach. There are few like him. It's clear he came from a wonderful family. May God comfort you in this sad time, and may Father Dan now help us all get to heaven with him.

Jasper & Tom:
The Kalbaugh Family sends our most sincere sympathy to you. Who would ever have thought that Fr. Dan would pass just three months after my Dad? You should know that he called my Mom and had a wonderful conversation with her that was very meaningful and consoling to her. We have said that "Coach" and "Danny" must have had a great reunion in heaven.

Our prayers are with you. The entire Nolan Family meant so much to all of us.

Father Dan was an inspiration to my mothers family, the Leahys. I was happily surprised when he tracked me down several years ago in Porter Corners and knocked on my door to share some stories about my family and yours from many decades ago.
God bless Father Dan & your family.

It is so hard to express what a great hero he was to me and the other young boys of South Bethlehem. We thrilled to his exploits on the football field for Lehigh. We hung up the cover photo of him on the Street and Smiths Football College Yearbook when he was the ranked the greatest college football Quarterback. And when we played sand lot football we pretended to be him. Later as a catholic we were so proud that he became a priest. He was the role model we all looked up to. He was so great and talented and yet so humble. A few years ago at Goodman Stadium he was honored as part of the 1957 Team. Returning from the field I called to him and he sat with me at a Lehigh game and I was so pleased to talk to him and tell him what he meant to my father and I and so many others. We have so few heroes like him today. God will certainly honor him for his achievements in this life as he welcomes him to eternal life. Thanks you Father Dan!

Jasper and Tom,
We will miss our great friend. Many happy days were spent with him in basketball, on my husband's side and many happy double dates with Meg OBrien and Danny while we were young. We will miss him ! And pray for him!

Jasper and Family
I was deeply sorry to hear about the death of your brother. We were in Sigma Nu together at Lehigh University. Everyone loved and respected him. My wife and I kept in touch with him over the years, but mostly over the Christmas season. We named our second son after Dan so we have a permanent reminder of him.

December 21, 2013

I first met Dan Nolan at LU where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity along with my husband, John Moyer. A quiet, unassuming gentleman is how he impressed me. It was not surprising that he sought the priestly life. In recent years, Danny would come to some home football games and join his Lehigh friend, Austy Short and Linda, for a tailgate. In November, I received a call from Fr. Dan after he had heard about John and how ill he was. He called again in late November to express his sympathy over John's passing. His words were most comforting and I will remember Dan forever.

Dan Nolan was actually my first Lehigh football hero when I was a freshman. He alone made me an ardent Lehigh football fan for life. I HAVE MAINTAINED A PICTURE OF HIM IN MY OFFICE CROSSING THE GOAL LINE IN A VICTORY OVER RUTGERS. I never met him until a few years ago after a Holy Cross game in Worcester. I started talking with him for the first time, and unbelievably, he asked me if I was the one who sent a letter to the editor of the Brown and White in response to an article covering the best in Lehigh history. I wholeheartedly argued that he was the best quarterback in Lehigh history. That's how observant and how totally interested he was in my conversation (I was a stranger to him until that day) that he was. God bless you J. Daniel Nolan.

Jasper,
Father Dan was one of the best. He and I talked often when he was at Lehigh and I was at Muhlenberg! A nicer more humble person I never met. RIP good friend!

December 20, 2013

I will always remember Father Dan sitting around my parents kitchen table telling wonderful stories. I was so glad he came and celebrating our parents 60th anniversary 2 years ago. He surely will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

Father Dan, you were an amazing person! A warm and kindhearted man, always with a smile on your face and a pleasure to be around.
I enjoyed talking sports with you and impressed with your knowledge of current day collegiate and professional sports. I always felt happier after our visit. I will miss you.

I was saddened to hear the news of Father Dan's passing from brother Tom. Dan was a man I admired for his talents, his values, his humility, and for the legacy he left for generations at Lehigh. He will not be forgotten and his story will continue to be one that we share with our students as an exemplar of a life enriched by sport, competition, friendship, leadership, faith, love and service to others. Thank you Father Dan for that gift and may you rest eternally in peace with the knowledge that your "game of life" has been won.
