Dominic Galluscio Obituary

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Dominic Vincent Galluscio passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Wesley Health Care Center on Lawrence Street.
He was 80.
Born July 7, 1931, in New York City, he was the second child of the late Robert and Mary DeFeo Galluscio.
Dominic graduated from Cardinal Hays High School in the Bronx. At age 19, he married his loving wife of 56 years, the late Dolores Dellipaine Galluscio.
Dominic worked for his father as a carpenter, during which time he learned a skill that would come in handy for the rest of his life.
He attended Fordham University where he obtained an undergraduate degree in accounting. Dominic then attended New York University where he earned his master's degree in business administration for taxation.
Originally employed by Standard Oil Co., Dominic left there to start his own income tax return business and insurance company. He prepared thousands of tax returns and was an enrolled agent for the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1969, he and his family purchased a 40-acre fruit farm in Germantown.
He enjoyed his scotch, adventured on many cruises with his wife and daughters and loved going to the Saratoga Race Course with his dear friends, Jerry, "Taxi" and Jim "Truck" Carlucci, and followed his son Dominic's horses. He also enjoyed going to the casino with his grandsons, Steven and Gerard.
Dominic provided for his family and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dominic was predeceased by his sister, Irene Corti.
Survivors include his seven children, Marie Britt (Larry) of Saratoga Springs, Robert Galluscio (Denise) of Claverack, Denise Cote (Lloyd) of Saratoga Springs, Ray Galluscio (Kate) of Pawling, Dominic Galluscio of Elmont, Joseph Galluscio of Segovia, Spain, and Gerard Galluscio (JoAnn) of Rhinebeck; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany and Elise Britt, Lynn Marie Galluscio (Hugh), Robbie Galluscio (Amanda), Steven Galluscio, Gerard Beebe (Michelle), Tim and Todd Cote and Dominique, Grasie, Jolee, Dominic and Genna Galluscio; and three great-grandchildren, Stephen and Alexandra Beebe and Ruby Horner.
Dominic's family would like to thank the staff on 4 Springs at Wesley Health Care Center and the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs for their kindness and care during their father's stay.

I just heard of Dom's passing today. On behalf of all of the Garnett family, our sympathy goes out to all of Dom's kids and grandkids. He was a wonderful man, and a great friend to all of my family. I will always love Dom, and will miss him terribly. I was lucky enough to see him a couple of times at Wesley to bid him farewell. I will now think of him with Pauly and how they will be laughing at us as we tear up our losers at the Spa. The circle will never be the same without the mayor Dom Galluscio. Rest in peace my dear friend.

To the Galluscio --

I was just visiting my aunt at Wesley, 4 Springs, and heard about your dad's passing. I am so very sorry. I always called him "Boss" because they would sit him at the head of the table for dinner and he would beam, especially if mom or I told him how sharp he looked in his hat. My mom talked with him in Italian and he always told her she was 'beautiful.' What a sweet, sweet man. You must miss him terribly already. I will put his name in our intentions this Palm Sunday weekend. Please take care of yourselves and know that your dad was thought of affectionately by strangers like us. Fondly,

Dennis Palazzo

The good lord now has a new resident. I'll miss all of those days under the TVs at Saratoga, and the simulcasts we attended in the off season at the harness track. You were a great friend, and a great host to me, after I moved to Ocala. I'll miss you dearly. Please forward me your new zip code, so I can mail you the DADSHEET. I will now have to find someone else to call me " A BIG DOPE".

With all my love always,
Jerry (Dadsheet) Cohen
