Emily Scuderi Obituary

Emily Marie Capeci Scuderi Saratoga Springs, NY - Emily Marie Capeci Scuderi, longtime resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Wesley Nursing Home. She was 95. Born on Aug. 26, 1917 in Stillwater, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph Capeci and Catherine Cerrillo. She was the youngest of 8 and was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings. Emily's favorite job was homemaker and Mom. She had a passion for baking, every holiday making trays of cookies, breads, pies and pastries to give to family, friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church for the past 50 years and for many years, taught a Sunday school class weekly. Emily suffered a brain tumor in 1980 and after two surgeries, the result was a total hearing loss. She learned to lip read and continued an active life, living independently from 1996 until her move to Wesley in 2008. In addition to her parents and siblings Emily was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Joseph (Gramps) Scuderi, who passed away on March 20, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Scuderi of Saratoga Springs; son, Lee F. Scuderi and wife Donna, grandson, Lee F. Scuderi, Jr. and granddaughter, Laura all of St Peters, MO as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Emily's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Wesley Nursing Home, for the loving care given to Emily over the past 5 years. Relatives and friends may call from 2:30pm to 4:30 pm and 6pm to 8pm Friday, March 22, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.
