Gene was a fine man and friend of my family for three generations. I worked with him on many Veteran related projects and his opinion was ALWAYS the correct one. He truly reflected the finest traditions of the U.S. Navy and service to the America he loved.

I knew Gene through his work with the Saratoga County Deceased Veterans and during his time as Dir. of Real Property. After a Veterans ceremony at the Sara. Co. railway station, he spent over an hour talking to me about trains, another one of his loves of life. We kept in touch about what was happening with veterans after he left the County due to his health and he said "make sure you put everything in writing that you're doing so people know" and we did that for you Gene. Everyone knows what Gene did for Veterans and he will always be remembered for that. If he was your friend, I'm sure you feel as blessed as I do in having known him. May he rest in peace.

Gene was a great friend who could be counted on when you needed information and support. He shared his professional skills with the school district during out search for property to site a new bus facility. His reputation was a major force in the communities support for the building project that we enjoy to this day. Gene will be missed by all. Our prayers are with Barb and the family.

Barbara and Family,
It is with a deeply sad heart I read about Gene's passing. He was not only my Boss at SCRPTSA he was my mentor and friend. Each year we have exchanged Christmas cards and in every card was a hand written note which I will now greatly miss receiving. He will be dearly missed by all he was a very special and giving man. RIP Gene.

Gene's family and ours were very good friends. He helped me when I ran, and won a seat on the Saratoga Springs Board of Education in 1975. He was always a very community minded, active person. I'm sure God will find a special place in heaven for him where he can help some poor unfortunate individuals.

Gene was an important part of the Ballston Journal's heritage, and of its future. We had many a leisurely heart-to-heart in which Gene "schooled" me about local politics, encouraged me to stand my ground and keep my instincts sharp no matter who was trying to fill my ear. He nurtured my passion for service, even at times when it felt "too hard" and my respect for him as a man and a leader is endless. They just don't make 'em like Gene anymore! Much love to all of you and thank you for sharing your husband and father with so many of us! P.S. I'll continue to smile when I think of the story he shared about hiding his tattoos from him mother!:-)

Gene was one of a kind. We met him after I had written an article about my Uncle who had died in WWII, but since his body was never recovered, we had no grave to visit. Gene helped get all the documents together to have a headstone placed in Saratoga's National Cemetery. He worked tirelessly for all veterans. I will always remember him holding my hand at the ceremony for Deceased Veterans when my Uncle Joe King was honored. He reached over to hold my hand as they were firing the gun salute and then while we sang The Star Spangled Banner. He will certainly be missed, but he will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his whole family.
Sincerely, Cathy & Chuck Eddy
