Jimmy and I were best friends and on the Wrestling Team in the Saratoga Springs High School Class of 1960. We both became Army Officers and retired as Lt Colonels. We actually ran into each other in Vietnam in 1970 and found out our mothers were in touch with each other back in Saratoga. After we retired from the Army Jimmy and I both got our advanceddegrees, him a PhD and me an MBA. In the photo I invited him in November 2012 to my retirement from my job at a party in my honor at the Ritz Carleton in West Palm Beach, FL. Jimmy told my employees some choice stories about our fun times together in High School. I'll miss him forever. RIP my brother.

Dear family and friends of James Parham,
I was thinking about my friend James Parham last night and wondered what he was up to these days. I googled his name and found that he had passed away last December. I was saddened by that news. James and I joined the faculty of the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh together in 1992. Because of his kindness, grace, sense of humor, and goodness, I quickly developed a love for this good man. While professor Parham was only at Pitt for a short time before heading off to be dean of the business school at Hampton University, we enjoyed some great times together as colleagues. While I only saw him sporadically after he left Pitt, it was always a grand reunion when we would see each other again. Probably the craziest thing I ever did as a professor was due to James' example. I don't know if he actually did it, but he told me that to get the attention of his students, he would jump up on a table the first day of class. I only did it once, but the students loved it!
Condolences to you on your loss. It saddens me to think that I will not enjoy his warm smile and laugh again in my lifetime. However, I'm a believer and look forward to my next grand reunion with James. May God bless all who are hurting because of your separation from this good man.

Sincerely,
Brad Agle

My heart is broken over the loss of a man I considered my brother. I loved and admired this man. Jim and I met in 1969 at Cameron State College in Lawton, OK when we were both stationed at Fort Polk. We were often at odds in class discussions and through those interactions grew to like and respectl each other. It was Jim who taught me what true friendship means. Though we sometimes did not see each other for a decade, a call or meeting would feel as if we had been together yesterday. I have since become friends with his lovely wife Loretta and his son Quantrell and my sincere condolences go out to them and his entire family.

To the Family, Friends, and Colleagues of the late, great Lt. Col. Ret. James. B. Parham.

Please allow e to express my deep and sincere sorrow and sympathy and offer my fervent prayers upon the loss of a truly brilliant, courageous, determined, indefatigable, concerned, righteous brother. He optimized the words we always spoke to our students of loving, trusting, and respecting them very much. Dr. Parham always found positives in situations no matter how dire they seemed. He traveled with me on business and recruiting trips and contributed mightily to the advancement of CSU during my tenure as president. He and Sgt/Major Johnson developed and maintained a phenomenal ROTC Program. Dr. Parham utilized to the very maximum, the many fantastic gifts God blessed him with. There is no doubt in my mind that he made this world a better place. I know that he improved the lives of the thousands of people he encountered throughout his many brilliant careers. Colonel, you demonstrated great courage, and faith right until the very end of our earthly presence. We will miss you, my brother. I can see us now listening to Johnny Taylor as we traveled to a meeting. We love you brother. We will miss you brother, You lived the words of Mr. Nelson Mndela "It is always impossible until it is done".Rest well brother. "We will see you in the morning".

Very sincerely, respectfully, sadly, sorrowfully, and prayerfully,
Your friend, brother, and colleague

Loretta,
So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I have plenty of good memories from Jim's time in Pittsburgh, including time spent together at the Pitt Business School. Agnes and I also had the pleasure of attending your wedding. We also visited several times during Jim's tenure as Dean at Hampton U.

Aaron Mann kept me informed of your ups and down in Atlanta including the tragic loss of your daughter. God bless you and your family.

Dear Loretta and Family, words cannot express how sad our family is to hear of James passing..he was one of the most wonderful down to earth people that anyone would ever know... he was very very kind and I don't believe that
I ever saw that huge smile go away from his face! ... Whenever he came back to Saratoga he would always be sure to check in our Mother (Loretta) and us kids just making sure that everyone was doing o.k. or to see if anyone wanted to do anything fun...he will be sorely missed by our family..
Our prayers are with you...

Jimmy and I were friends on the wrestling team at SHS. We became best friends, German class together and later Army Officers. In Vietnam in 1970, I had just been released from the Hospital Ship and bumped into Jim. We were both Captains and didn't know we were both in the Army. After that, our Mothers in Saratoga stayed in touch. When I retired from the Army and was working in business, I got a call from Jim who, at the time, was Dean of the Business School at Hampton University, an Historically Black College. He said, Fred I'd like you to join my Business Advisory Council. I need a white guy. I loved that guy. The photo here was taken when I retired from my civilian job and my Board threw a party at the Ritz Carlton in West Palm Beach. After this photo, I gave him the microphone and he told stories from our lives together. When he wasn't at our 50th Reunion, James Parker and I called to to see why. He had had a tragic family accident involving his daughter. I shant forget him. A gentleman and dearest friend always. My sympathies go out to his family. He'll be sorely missed.

Jimmy and I walked together down Broadway while attending our Saratoga High 50th Class Reunion. As we reached one of the historic hotels, he said "Come with me!" and we went inside, through the lobby to an outside garden. Jim remarked about the beauty and the memory of that garden, saying he wished to have one just like it someday.
Jim, You will be missed by everyone who ever knew you, but we can take solace that your spirit can walk in your garden for eternity.
Rest in Peace, my friend.

I am saddened to hear of Jim's passing. We served together at Ft. Leavenworth in the late 70"s. We had lots of fun. I was fortunate enough to get together with him again at HQ TRADOC and later after retirement in Hampton, VA. He will certainly be missed. I always thought that he was one of the really good guys!
