Paul Jenkins Obituary

Paul A. Jenkins SARATOGA SPRINGS - Paul Jenkins, age 69, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 14, 1947 in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of the late George R. Jenkins and Anne Uscavitch Jenkins. Paul graduated from Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1965 and attended HVCC and LSU. Paul was self-employed in the construction industry for many years where he found his true passion as a carpenter. Over the year Paul established himself as a knowledgeable carpenter with a discerning eye for building projects. The achievement he was most proud of was turning the old family garage into a beautiful two-bedroom apartment complete with spiral stairs. He did all the work by himself. Paul truly enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends, taking care of the house, and helping others. He was strong and tough, but possessed a wonderful sense of humor and wit. He was a free spirit who loved to laugh and made all those around him do likewise with his famous one-liners. As a young man, he excelled in all sports, even starring on the Louisiana State University rugby team. Like his mother, he had a passion for horse racing and counted many trainers and jockeys as personal friends. Paul is survived by his son, Paul J. Jenkins; brother, George R. Jenkins (Carole); nephews Justin and Colin Jenkins (Christina). He was preceded in death by his parents. At the request of the family and Paul’s wishes there will be no calling hours nor funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Compassionate Funeral Care, Inc, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The thing I remember the most was how my uncle would sit on one end of the table during Thanksgiving and make us all laugh throughout the dinner. He possessed a great personality and I always thought of him as a very talented carpenter, rough around the edges, but capable of great things. A terrific and protective uncle with a zeal for life. He will be missed greatly. May God give you peace and tranquility. Love, your nephew, Justin

Paul and Rick were great childhood friends. We spent day after day playing sports. Football in the yard across the street from their house or baseball at the field that is now Skidmore College I lost touch with Rick and Paul years ago as we went on with each of our lives. I will always remember those days with joy. I am sure Paul will be playing sports in a great place. Rest In Peace my good friend

Paul Jr. ,George and family I am sorry to hear the news of his passing. Paul and Gary Capenter were the best one liners I ever heard and they would make everyone laugh. St. Peter is still laughing at the pearly gates from those two.
