Ballston Spa, NYRebecca Joanne Strader, age 68, died at home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, October 30, 2021 after a short illness. She was born on April 19, 1953, in Hurley, NY and was the daughter of the late William and Rita (Lockwood) Wood. She was a graduate of Kingston High School and attended college at Ulster County Community College and Northeastern University.She married her beloved husband Dr. Stephen Earl Strader on June 2, 1973, and after he graduated from medical school, they settled in Ballston Spa where they raised their wonderful family. She loved animals, and she devotedly cared for the family’s two beautiful golden retrievers and adopted a retired standardbred horse. She was always engaged with her children’s activities, from volunteering with 4-H to cheering at soccer and baseball games. She shared her lifelong love of music and piano with her family. She served as a charter board member of the Ballston Spa Educational Foundation. She also served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Ballston Spa. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and love for her family. Rebecca is survived by her husband Dr. Stephen Strader, daughters Emily Schmidt (Mathew) and Rachel Strader, son Jeffrey Strader, grandchildren Marshall and Cadee Schmidt, sisters Laurie Cooper (Robert) and Pamela Baker (Andrew), and a beloved extended family.Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.
