Beverly "Bev' A. (Moser) Diehl, 79, a lifelong resident of Grand Detour, Illinois, passed away on July 4, 2023.
Bev was born on May 14, 1944, to Galen "Chuck" W. and Mary A. (Hoff) Moser in Dixon, Illinois. She was the youngest of 6 children and was the only child born at the hospital. During her younger years, she delivered the Dixon Telegraph newspaper to subscribers residing in the village of Grand Detour and enjoyed sharing fond memories about her route. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1962.
After graduation, Bev worked at Freeman Shoe Company until 1971. She then decided to devote her life to being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. She then went to work at Lee County Nursing Home, retiring in 2006.
She was married to John "Jack" Diehl on October 10, 1969, in Oregon, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2018. Bev had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a smile that would radiate. She enjoyed a vast variety of things including; being outdoors, gardening, canning, having cookouts, fish fry's, going on road trips, baking, collecting cookbooks, going to auctions and flea markets, playing cards/games/puzzles, holiday decorating (along with making special holiday meals), and most of all, spending quality time with her family and friends. Bev had a big heart and was always willing to help others.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Carl McClure) Avey, of Grand Detour; her brother, Eldon "Bo" Moser, of Dixon; "the girls"; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and grand kitty, Sassy.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Upon Bev's request, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be in Grand Detour Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, in Dixon.
